Capt. Brian Thompson, and Brother fire fighters Trevor and Kevin Gage attack angry apartment fire on Allencrest. There were many other brave firemen who responded and risked their lives to extinguish this fire. We should all be thankful the city has many selfless individuals who are so devoted to the spirit volunteering. Do not forget these are not paid firefighters. They do what they do because they care about people.

Residents displaced after town home fire

By Ben Posey, The Grizzly Detail

A 3 Alarm fire broke out in 2 units of a town home located on Allencrest Drive in White Settlement this past Monday night.  Units from White Settlement, Lockheed, and Westworth Village responded to the fire at approximately 10 p.m.

The street was lined with concerned onlookers as they watched firefighters from all three departments battle the blaze from both sides of the town home. MedStar treated one resident, from one of the two units that burned, for smoke inhalation at the scene.

Anthony Ruby, a nearby resident, said he was checking his e-mail at home when he heard someone say that a town home across the street was on fire.

“I ran over and started banging on the backdoor and then ran around to the front door as well to see if anyone was at home,” said Ruby. “I just wanted to make sure no one was sleeping inside.”

It appeared that the fire started in the lower floor of one unit near the fireplace and worked its way upward to the second floor. The chimney that was attached to the backside of the unit collapsed on the carport as firefighters carried equipment into the building.

“I was right under the carport when the chimney came down on top,” said White Settlement Volunteer Fire Fighter Melvin Wilson. “It was pretty scary.”

The American Red Cross disaster team assisted residents of the burned units. The fire is still under investigation.
