On the last day of 2005, the White Settlement Fire Department, along with Mutual aid form  West Worth Village  Fire Department responded to an apartment fire in the 8000 block of Cambridge Circle. Operations Chief, Mike Ikerd reported seeing heavy smoke before he arrived on the scene and immediately declared a working fire. Dispatcher, Fireman, RJ  Schwartz was on the 911 line with PD who was attempting to maintain contact with the apartment resident who called 911 to report the fire. Almost immediately after PD forwarded the call to FD contact was lost, probably due to the fire. Dispatch then  reported a person possibly trapped.

Pump 3 with fireman Brian Thompson, and Lt. Brian Hekele,  and Engineer Mike Cochrane were the first fighting units on. Thompson and Hekele attempted to make entry, but were pulled back by Command since the fire was so heavy. They then began to douse the fire with the deck gun. Once the fire was manageable units made entrance to begin an interior attack. They reported finding a deceased victim.

Units were on for over  3 hours overhauling the scene. Four apartment units were affected by the fire.  All are uninhabitable due to flame, heat, smoke, or water damage. Several residents were displaced and referred to Red Cross.

One white female was declared D.O.S. in an upstairs apartment. One firefighter was taken to a local hospital for observation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
