On Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 3:00 pm the WSFD received a 911 call reporting a residential structure fire at 8414 Gibbs. The temperature this day was 104 degrees. Responding units were Engine 2, Engine 3, Quint 1, Utility 1, and Command 1. Engine 2 arrived to find heavy smoke showing from the attic area. They pulled a big booster and began their fire attack. Engine 3 laid a supply line and and established Gibbs Command until Asst Chief Brian Thompson arrived in Command 1. Quint 1 engineer took care of utilities and the rest of the crew performed a primary search. Utility 1 crew pulled a second attack line. One firefighter was sent to the hospital with heat exposure. The fire attack was very successful as the fire damage was limited to what was burning when crews arrived. Another great stop! Salvage work was performed throughout the incident as well.
