Tuesday afternoon August 7th,  at approximately 5:50 PM, the White Settlement Fire Department was dispatched to a Major Vehicle Accident (MVA) at the intersection of Saddle and Clifford in the city. A collision between a dump truck and a White Settlement police squad car hampered rush hour traffic for over an hour. Paramedics from Med-Star and responding firemen worked carefully to extricate the driver of the squad car without aggravating any possible injuries.

A crowd larger than usual gathered to watch these professionals perform their jobs. The car appears to be totaled and only minor damage to the Dump Truck. The officer was transported by Med-Star to a local hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time. The driver of the Dump Truck though somewhat shaken, walked away from the accident.

The cause and circumstances of the accident are currently under investigation.
