The White Settlement Fire Department was summoned to a residential structure fire at 7944 White Settlement Road  at approximately 7 PM, Friday November 7th. Joe Milam, Bn 2,  arrived on scene, reported smoke showing and took command of the scene.  Shortly after his arrival Pump 3 arrived manned by firemen Craig Slovak, Brian Hekele, and Kevin Richter.  The other White Settlement units which made the scene were Pump 1, Quint 1 and Utility 1, along with C3, Jim Nelson.

This fire had started in the attic area of this residential duplex. At first it appeared this fire would be knocked down in short order. However it quickly became apparent this would be a stubborn fire. After all local available units responded from within the city a request for mutual aid assistance was made to surrounding communities. The cities of Benbrook and Lake Worth responded with a quint and a pump truck respectively.

Apparently the structure originally was constructed with a flat roof and later had a pitch roof constructed on top of the of the flat one. This fact made it very difficult to extinguish the fire. Firemen were on the scene for approximately 3 hours overhauling the scene.

Red Cross was requested to make the scene as 2 separate residents were displaced. The units should be considered a total loss.
