The Van was operated by a male who had lost control and struck a tree. The driver had to be extricated  from the vehicle. It was determined that the teenage female passenger was in critical condition. Care flight was launched and shortly landed in the Brewer Middle school band practice field just 4 blocks away. The female victim was evacuated in short order. It took fire rescue crews about 5 minutes to extricate the male crash victim. He was immediately taken to a local hospital via Med star ambulance.
