September 11, 2001 will not soon be forgotten. It is a day that caused all Americans to reflect deeply and think soberly concerning their lives and the great blessings of God we often take for granted. Freedom is not free. It has a price. This was ever so evident when hundreds of firemen and policemen, who place their lives on the line everyday they serve, did not come home on September 11, 2001.
The city of White Settlement sponsored a memorial honoring those who gave their lives on that fatal day in New York and Washington D.C. Thousands gathered in Veterans Park to remember those fallen heroes and the ones who still serve. The names of all the active Firemen and Policemen were read as they came forward to a standing ovation from the patriotic crowd. Many distinguished citizens and local dignitaries were present and gave excellent speeches honoring our local heroes.
