White Settlement was proud to have Lowe’s Home Improvement Center decide to make a home in our city. On March 30th this year the White settlement Fire Department was invited to the Grand Opening. FD setup a display of Utility 1 and Pump3. We also took part in a challenge. De Walt Tool Company provided a junk automobile for a tool demonstration. Customers were asked how long they thought it would take our skilled firemen to cut this car in half. The one who came closet to the actual time received a $100 gift certificate. Everyone submitted their time and the fun began. A sizeable crowd gathered and Fireman Barry Stuard took the new battery powered saw supplied by the De Walt representative. It only took a little over 5 minutes to cut the car completely in half. What a powerful tool! De Walt was very gracious to WSFD seeing that they donated the saw to us. We are very thankful to have this very powerful tool at our disposal the next time we have the need to use it on scene! Chief Burnett took advantage of the time to swap stories with our comrades in the West Worth Village Fire Department who were also present to observe the activities.
