October is Fire Prevention Month
The White Settlement Fire will be visiting the local schools in the area for the month of October for Fire Prevention - Practice Your Escape Plan!.
In 2006, 80% of all fire deaths were caused by home fires. Last year, roughly 2,600 people were killed by home fires and 12,500 were injured, according to NFPA reports.
“It is not enough just to have a home fire escape plan in place; it is vital that everyone living in the home practice this plan. You can have as little as two minutes to get out when fire strikes.”
NFPA offers the following tips for home fire escape planning:
Smoke Alarm Batteries
It is that time of the again. We at White Settlement Fire Department ask that you change your batteries in your smoke alarm this month. Also while you are changing the batteries insure that the smoke alarm works. If you any question please feel free to contact the Fire Department at 817-246-1761.
